Eye-catcher for living room, dining table and sideboard
The scent of Christmas biscuits, roasted almonds and punch is in the air. The joy of Christmas Eve is awakened by a leisurely stroll through the Advent market. Who wouldn't want to sweeten these hours with Christmas decorations that will bring you even more joy? Let the excitement for the upcoming Advent season inspire you to create a cosy, modern LED Christmas decoration that will delight both you and your customers. Here you will find a list of everything you need and step-by-step instructions with a short video on how to create this atmospheric Christmas decoration for your home and shop.
Accessories needed for the LED Christmas decoration
Foliage, grasses and fresh flowers, e.g. baby's breath, ornamental asparagus, gerbera
The choice of colours and materials plays an important role when it comes to Christmas decorations. Annick Mertens leads by example: she uses bright colours to accentuate the light of the LED fairy lights and bring out typical winter elements such as pine cones, leaves and white cut flowers.
The STYLIT «Ultima» sheep's wool felt in natural white blankets the LED fairy lights in fresh snow, echoing an illuminated snow-covered patio roof on an Advent evening. By adding pine cones, foliage and a white gerbera, you can enhance the natural style of this Christmas decoration.
Using a large plate as a stencil, cut a circle out from the cardboard. Then place your cardboard circle on top of the white STYLIT «Ultima» sheep's wool felt and use it as a stencil to cut two felt circles of the same size for your decoration.
Step 2: Cut a circular hole in the felt
The two felt circles form the basis for this decoration. In the next step, Annick cuts a circular hole in one of the round felts, creating an opening for the fairy lights, the Christmas "filling" for this piece.
Step 3: Sew the felt circles together
Now place the cardboard circle between the two felt circles and sew the felts together around the edges, using white sewing thread. The cardboard circle provides your Christmas decoration with an important stable base.
Step 4: Fill the felt bag
Now fill the resulting felt bag with the white sheep's wool felt «Ultima» to add volume. Add these felt strips until the bag is full and then place your LED lighting inside. The thin «Ultima» sheep's wool felt allows the lights shine through, creating a warm white glowing look.
Step 5: Prepare the heart decoration
The «Dochtfaden Glimmer» cord with wire is ideal for creating matching decorative accessories for your piece. The wire allows you to bend and shape the cord as you like and gives the decoration a sturdier form. Annick has prepared a heart from a STYLIT wool cord in natural white for her Christmas arrangement.
Step 7: Fill the felt base
Now fill the opening with various Christmassy accessories such as pine cones, leaves and flowers. Annick places a fresh, eye-catching gerbera in a glass tube. Secure these decorative elements with hot glue and make sure that the switch for the LED lights is hidden yet accessible.
Step 7: Give your decoration a finishing touch
Now filled, the felt bags look like soft snowmounds and the warm glow of the lights conveys an atmospheric feeling of festivity. The firmly glued decorations form a strong base for the gerbera glass tube. Lastly, Annick adds the woollen heart. You can use this glowing Christmas piece as a decoration for your table, entryway or window.
