A grave decoration is more than just a simple piece of craftsmanship. It's a heartfelt gift with profound emotional significance that extends beyond its aesthetic function. Allow yourself to be inspired by the creative ideas of designer Klaus Wagener and explore new possibilities as a florist or decorator to craft a unique and empathetic grave adornment.
Klaus Wagener has thoughtfully chosen the colours of this artwork to best support the bereaved in their process of healing.
The soft vintage pink affectionately recalls the departed and introduces a delicate component that signifies a special memory. The soothing gray symbolizes life's transience and contributes to a reflective atmosphere. Through the classic mourning colour black, the designer conveys the gravity and depth of sorrow. Particularly striking is the vibrant garnet red, which represents enduring and never-ending love.
Naturally, you have the freedom to arrange the colour elements according to your personal sensibilities, thus adding your own accents for a specific colour symbolism. In this creation, you can utilize both the two-tone «Klausi» wool felt and the single-coloured felts «Toni».
Step by Step
Step 1: Cutting the Felts
Take the roll of felt and use the scissors to cut square pieces. Feel free to choose various sizes for the squares, as this will give the artwork a more relaxed and informal effect in the end.
Step 2: Stringing on the Wire
Now, thread the cut felt squares onto the wire. Feel free to vary the sizes of the felt squares in their arrangement. To create a stronger color contrast, it's recommended to place the colors of one felt after another.
Step 3: Adding Decorative Elements
Between the individual groups of colored felt, you can thread the pine cones and wood pieces. Depending on the hardness of your wood pieces, you can either pierce the hole directly with the wire or, if necessary, pre-drill it using a drill. Alternatively, you can attach them using a hot glue gun or binding wire. The same method is recommended for attaching the pine cones as well.
Step 4: Closing the Wire Circle
Complete the circle by gently shaping one end of the wire into an artistic coil using the combination pliers. Then, guide the other end through the fine hole and shape it similarly. Now, you can distribute all the elements evenly around the ring, gently loosening them to achieve your desired arrangement.
Step 5: Final Touches
Take the flower pot filled with soil and place the flowers inside. Position the large stone in the center of the flowers; it symbolizes the heartache and sorrow that come with the loss of a beloved person. Next, gently lay the decorative wreath of tendrils over the flowers. Finally, adorn the piece with dried branches. Et voilà, you have created a wonderful work filled with emotions and profound meaning!
