Water lily flowers made from wool? Victoria Salomon will guide you step by step on how to create a nostalgic water lily flower in the SENSE style from wool felt «Dreamer», which is a true embellishment for any gift wrap! In just a few steps, you too can acquire this special skill!
Step-by-Step
Cutting the felt
Take a pair of scissors and cut the unrolled felt into pieces that are 15 cm in length, which you will then halve. Next, cut these pieces into petal shapes - you can use the photo as a reference for this.
Attaching the wire
Then, take the wire and cut it into small pieces. At the straight edge of the previously cut petal shapes, thread the wire through the centre of the sheep's wool felt «Dreamer» so that it is not visible from both sides.
Attaching the Lotus leaves
Before you start working with the hot glue gun, prepare the felt ribbon «Organic» by crossing it over. Then, apply the hot glue to the wire of the prepared felt pieces.
Arranging
Attach the petals to the «Organic» felt band by working from the outside to the inside. Make sure you arrange the felt pieces in a herringbone pattern. This will create a beautiful and realistic lotus flower effect.
Bend the petals
Continue going around the «Organic» band several times with the arrangement of the felt pieces. Once you have created multiple layers of petals, shape the petals so that they appear slightly curved, just like a real lotus flower. This will give them a more natural and lifelike appearance.
Final touch
To make the spaces between the petals more stable and filled, you can glue the leftover pieces from the trimmed flower petals in between. With some additional embellishments, the flower can now serve as an elegant addition to gift wrapping or craft projects!
Colours and Materials
The SENSE color palette 1 presents bold yet familiar tones. This palette features nostalgic, rich brown hues, deep reds, and lush greens, accompanied by an impressive white.
Victoria Salomon worked with the cappuccino-brown wool «Dreamer» and the pure natural white felt band «Organic». The delicate feathers in the «Dreamer» felt create a timeless and unique atmosphere.
To add a touch of elegance to the gift wrapping, the designer incorporated various grasses and eucalyptus. The SENSE trend box allows for the creation of timeless and classically beautiful pieces.
