Christmas colour world

Ruby red RO04

Cappuccino brown BR56

PLANT GREEN

The colour effect of red in Christmas work pieces exudes warmth and passion, while white creates a pure and peaceful atmosphere. Brown, especially in wooden elements, brings an earthy and cosy note. Green, often represented by plants or fir branches, adds freshness and connects the decoration with nature.

Together, these colours form a harmonious ensemble that evokes nostalgic feelings and underlines the festive mood – a perfect mix for a heart-warming Christmas atmosphere.

Step by step to the DIY Christmas tree

Step 1: Cut «Gitti» felt

For the woolly Christmas decoration, Bettina first cuts the sheep's wool felt «Gitti» in red and white. A width of a good 7 cm ensures that the decoration placed later is clearly visible from both sides.

Step 2: Connecting the felt panels

Next, tape the two felt panels together with double-sided tape. Make sure that the jute mesh is on the outside and remains visible. This creates a nostalgic, Christmassy red and white colour combination.

Step 4: String the felt

Now take a long aluminium rod and make a small curve in one side of the rod. Start threading the felt strips onto it, the rounding ensures that the threaded felt does not slip away. Insert a wooden bead after each felt strip to provide stability and spacing. Start with small loops of felt, then gradually increase in size to create the look of a fir tree.

Step 5: Christmas filling

Now insert the aluminium rod into a base. Bettina has stylishly drilled a hole in a piece of tree and placed the woollen tree here. Now fill the loops with Christmas decorations: small Christmas tree balls, various cones, cinnamon sticks or dried orange slices: Anything that is Christmassy and you like is allowed! Fix the decoration with hot glue.

Step 5: Finalise the decoration

You can add the finishing touch to your homemade decorative tree with a string of LED lights. To finish off the top of the tree, glue on a handful of white wooden beads. Dangle braided wool strings of brown, white and red «Smartfaden» from the top to finish off the decoration.
