Sustainable tree decorations: 10 creative ideas

Sustainable, magical Christmas decorations with ideas from the BLOOMs florists led by Klaus Wagener or the creative minds Victoria Salomon and Bettina von Hollen. Here are 10 inspiring ideas for eco-friendly tree decorations. From individually designed Christmas baubles and colourful felt tree ornaments to nostalgic Christmas figures.
Idea 1:
Spice up Christmas tree baubles
Whether simply as an eye-catcher or when the tree decorations from previous years get boring: With this idea, you can breathe new life into any Christmas bauble: The "Glimmer wick thread" wool cord with wire core is easy to wind in a circle and fits perfectly into the festive Christmas season with its festive glittering lurex threads. | Design and image: BLOOMs

Idea 2:
Woolly Christmas tree
Four lengths of "Organic" felt ribbon form the "trunk" of the tree. Felt wool "Lunte" in the matching colour is attached to it from top to bottom with anchor stitch knots. Fluff up the ends and cut the fluffy wool into a tree shape. The woolly Christmas tree is ready! | Design and image: BLOOMs
Idea 3:
Felt stars for the Christmas tree
Stars always fit into the Advent and Christmas season! Whether in white, as shown here, or in your favourite colour of choice: these stars made from "Toni" sheep's wool felt are quick to cut out and make simple and sustainable tree decorations for Christmas. | Design and image: BLOOMs

Idea 4:
Christmas tree figures

If you like figure pendants, this is the right idea for you. The sheep's wool felt "Gitti" with its jute finish has a particularly rustic and original look and is ideal for creating Christmas decorations. Bettina von Hollen made these tags as part of a lovingly designed Christmas world in red and white.

Idea 5:
Sustainable tinsel alternative
Do you know what it's like: the Christmas tree is all decorated, but somehow still looks a bit empty? You don't have to resort to tinsel to fill in the empty spaces. Wrap your tree with wool cords in different thicknesses and colours and give your tree the finishing touch! | Design and image: BLOOMs

Tree decorations as gift tags

Let the decorated eggs peek out of the felt pockets and place a handful of flower bulbs in the pockets here and there. For green spring accents, put flowers in one or other of the pockets: gypsophila or silk tulips can be used without water tubes. If you opt for fresh tulips, hide the water tube in the pockets.

Idea 7:
Colourful felt cones
Colourful cones to make yourself: You can make colourful Christmas cones with different colours of "Crushed" felt ribbon. It's really easy with a cardboard template. Also a cute idea for crafting with children. | Design and image: BLOOMs

Colourful "Stylo" balls
A colourful set of Christmas baubles by Bettina von Hollen. Bettina has utilised the product characteristics of our "Stylo" wool cord: the small pieces of cord are positioned in such a way that their insides are also on display. This allows the different colours to be shown to their best advantage. | Picture: Rudi Tuimann
Idea 9:
Plain coloured wool balls
Similar to the decoration shown above, BLOOMs has also worked with "Stylo" pieces here. The different orientation of the cord pieces creates a different overall feel. The baubles are designed in one colour, although the cord core is also a little eye-catcher here. | Design and image: BLOOMs

Idea 10:
Spherical Father Christmases
Victoria Salomon has conjured up little Santas from Christmas baubles using our classic wool cord, the "wick thread" in red and grey. Jolly hats and clothes pegs that look like skis elicit a smile from onlookers and make for an enchanting Christmas tree decoration. | Picture: Rudi Tuimann
